Safety, health, and liability boundaries

Tam Farms is a model for living and working experiences, not a medical facility. This article clarifies what Tam Farms does not do, what participants need to disclose, and where the boundaries of responsibility lie.

Safety is a prerequisite for every journey at Tam Farms. But safety can only be ensured when both parties understand the boundaries of responsibility correctly. This article clarifies what Tam Farms is not, what participants need to disclose, and what risks need to be acknowledged before joining.

What Tam Farms is not

The most important thing to understand from the start:

  • Not a medical facility — Tam Farms does not provide medical services, does not have a resident doctor, and does not perform medical procedures.
  • No therapy — Tam Farms does not provide psychological therapy, behavioral therapy, or any form of therapy.
  • No addiction treatment — Tam Farms is not an addiction recovery program and does not handle substance use disorders.
  • No high-risk cases — Tam Farms does not accept individuals at risk of self-harm, risk of harming others, or those in acute crisis states.

What participants need to disclose

To ensure safety, participants need to disclose honestly before joining:

  • Underlying conditions — current health conditions, including chronic diseases, cardiovascular conditions, blood pressure, diabetes, or any conditions requiring medical monitoring.
  • Personal medication — medications currently in use, including dosage and schedule. Participants are responsible for bringing and taking their own medication.
  • Allergies — food allergies, medication allergies, insect allergies, or any allergies that may affect health during participation.

Insurance and emergency contact

  • Insurance — participants need to have health insurance or travel insurance valid throughout the journey. This is a mandatory requirement, not optional.
  • Emergency contact — participants need to provide contact information for a family member or representative so Tam Farms can reach them in case of emergency.

Risks of gardening and tool use

Gardening is part of the experience at Tam Farms. This activity comes with real risks that participants need to be aware of:

  • Garden risks — including risks from tools, weather (sun, rain, temperature), and insects. Participants need to wear appropriate clothing and follow instructions.
  • Tool use safety — gardening tools (shears, hoes, shovels, knives) can cause injury if used incorrectly. Participants are instructed before use and must follow safety regulations.

Right to refuse activities

Participants have the right to refuse activities at any time if they feel unsafe or if the activity is not suitable for their health condition. No one is forced to participate in any activity against their will. Refusal does not affect other rights in the program.

Tam Farms creates conditions for living truly and working truly — but does not replace medical care, does not provide therapy, and does not handle crises. The boundaries of responsibility must be clear from the start.

The detailed safety policy is being finalized. This article will be published when the safety policy is formally locked.
